It seems of late my posts have been less Ranty Ms. Soapbox and rather just a day to day report of my life, and thoughts. So, does that make me boring? Am I hiding my inner tantrums? Am I using this medium as a way to stay in touch (albeit one way) with friends?

Life's not boring at all. At times it's fun, right now it's challenging as I'm making a patio, (and trying to do it cheaply, so that's an added element...) and often it's fairly routine, but far from boring.

I think the reason I bitch less is truly because I have less to bitch about. People that piss my off are not in my circle, and although I may hear of their stupidity, rarely does it affect me. So that's good.

The fact is I would write this blog even if I knew that nobody reads it. Over the last 2 years, it has become a journal for me, and frankly I enjoy posting, lurking, and commenting... the hallmarks of blogging. What I would appreciate is being told that you've heard the story I'm telling, because you read my blog. Just tell me you read it. I have no expectations of you continuing to do so, I don't write specifically for anyone's benefit, so just let me know.

Oh yeah, our Cleveland Brown tickets arrived yesterday! Woo hoo!

Just let your Soul Glo

Feeling oh so silky smooth...

Yes that the song that's been torturing my brain for the last 3 days... ever since I caught a few minutes of the old Eddie Murphy movie, 'Coming to America'. I think I'm going crazy.

Anywho... so what I have been up to the last few days...

- I've torn up my sister's patio, and dug up all the offending weeds and worked the clay over a bit. God I hate clay! Arg! I also chopped out a huge tree, and trimmed a bush a little, it needs more...

- I weeded around my mom's backyard and vacuumed the pool

- I made Billy's favorite dinner

- Finished 'The Dawn Treader' in the Narnia series, as well as 'Sail' by James Patterson

- We took the pooch for a walk

- Laundry, of course

- Basic and general cleaning... the house is getting a little gross, oh well

- I weeded our garden, and cut down some parsley and romaine lettuce

- Watered and wound the Bastard Vine

- Got the recycling all organized... always takes several minutes... William doesn't seem to realize that throwing a large box in the bin doesn't magically compress and flatten itself, hey at least he recycles...

- When to a funeral... one of MomG's friends...

- Inputed (is that a word?) and emailed the results of the Quota Points game from Friday's league

- Booked a hotel in Cleveland.. we have a view of the stadium! Oh yeah!

It seems like I've done so much more. Today same old same old, then Kiks and I are heading out early to golf 18 today instead of 9... apparently her kids are at day camp, so no worries about a sitter...

This week-end is their party, and it's going to be great fun. I hope the weather holds out...

Life is good

Sometimes I seriously wonder if I deserve this life. Sometimes I'm having such a great time that I could figuratively burst out in tears or laughter.

Yesterday was one of those days. It started off with really bad storms, (when you like to golf, such as myself, the weather becomes a huge part of your life), but it cleared up in plenty of time for SC's Couple's Scotch ball tournament. It was great fun, although frustrating as I wasn't playing very well, but even so, we finished 6th overall. The dinner was fantastic, the course was beautiful, and we had fun fun fun. I 'beat the pro' on the par 3 8th hole and also won ladies closet to the pin (which slightly redeemed other losing experiences I've had... nuff said...) and William gave me my birthday present early (so I could use it more), a rescue hybrid, and it works like a charm, although not so much from the fairway...

We also ordered our Cleveland Brown tickets, so that's awesome.

I really like my new banner. Except I made it a wee too not wide enough, and when I find the patience I will redo it... probably in ten minutes with a fresh cup of coffee. The picture is looking back on the 12th hole at Sutton Creek but reversed as the trees interfered with my pic and header. Can't have that...

Yesterday was a great day, as I golfed in the morning at a pretty little course with a girlfriend who doesn't golf often... It's strange that I feel so comfortable at any course (well maybe not so much Essex...). It was a little tournament and was most fun.

My afternoon league was a wash out, as there was a huge thunderstorm, but of course it cleared up after. If I had only waited an hour I would have been able to play ( albeit alone...). Rats!

Today? Meeting at the bank (dread), vacuum the pool (after the Splendor guys fix it, hopefully it is not 78*F like last time... little too chilly), maybe some yard work at my sister's, (if it's not too hot) then Billy has his golf league so I'll be (hopefully) finishing The Amber Spyglass, the third book in His Dark Materials (AKA: The Golden Compass, of which I have not seen the movie, so perhaps I shall rent it soon...)

Going

Welp, Billy is leaving for the great state of TN in about 4 hours... lucky man. The weather is supposed to be fantastic Tuesday and Wednesday and they already have tee times booked...

I really hope that everything is okay with the house. The last guy that was there (the bartender from Sutton Creek) had a crazy episode whilst barbecuing in the garage and... well, let's just say that there was a mullet, an offer of a burger, boxer shorts, a wife beater, and an axe involved. It's a good story, you can fill in the blanks... suffice to say the Sheriff was called. Awesome.

He's venturing down with 3 of his friends and they are taking MomG's new Edge, which is great. The other 2 guys only have 1 family vehicle each and well, the other guy's car probably wouldn't make it through Michigan... Billy's truck is fine, but the back seat is narrow for 2 guys to ride 10 hours in... so that means MomG gets our Fusion... so that means that I get to drive Billy's work truck. Super cool!

While he's away I'm having a couple of girls over on Wednesday night (I think, I still have to confirm) and a few other girls over on Thursday night. On Tuesday I have golf, then a pool party at Kik's which should be a riotous event for sure. It should be a good week for me too. I seriously hope to get rid of my farmer's tan!

It's all good. Of course I'll miss him, but he really needs this time away to be with friends, golf, drink, play poker and eat steaks. He deserves it!

Sheesh

Three days since my last post! Where does the time go?

Let's see... Friday I golfed in our Ladies 18 hole league and played like a donkey. Great. Friday night Billy and I were treated to dinner at the Keg by MomG and it was awesome, (hello blue cheese fillet...) except I felt pretty crappy all day long and it resulted in a migraine that I was sort of able to stop before it was too intense. It was weird. It was a sight based migraine, (for those who suffer from migraines you know what I'm talking about) and usually mine are smell or scent related. Strange.

Yesterday was mine and KimF ladies match (or as I learned actually 'medal' play... there is a difference) against two pretty good golfers. One who pretty much had the game of her life yesterday, but luckily for me, so did KimF... she also won her individual ladies match. The only contribution I made was a birdie on #8 for a net 1, and a par on 15 for a net 2. That was pretty sweet. It came down to literally the last putt on the last hole... which I missed, but KF made hers so we won by one stroke with a net 63. That's a damned good score in case you don't know... whew!

It was so much stress, not because I so badly wanted to win, but because I didn't want to let KF down... if we tied and had to go play extra holes, we would have been blown off the course due to weather, then they would use 'retrogression' to determine the winner (best holes starting with the last one played) - we would have then lost the match, as KF and I both sucked a bit on the back! Whew!

Billy was at the club so we had a couple of drinks, went home and participated in Rib Fest 2008 (just ribs for dinner, no sides... I felt like Fred Flintstone...) and watched Narnia (we had never seen it before, and I had just read the first 2 books in the series, and the second movie might be at the drive in this week-end... so...) We started to watch No Country For Old Men... it was disturbing to say the least, I had read Cormac McCarthy's The Road, so I knew this one would be equally warped... but my body said No More with about 20 minutes to go. Billy watched it and this morning asked me to finish watching the rest so I could explain it to him... I was like uh... wah? I hardly knew what was going on! Silly man.

Today is Dian's shower and I'm having a vegetable issue, so I'll be late to help set up. I'm sure there will be enough people, but still... stress! guilt! Arg!

I'm really looking forward to this coming week.... (it helps that today I feel better physically than I have in a week, despite less than 4 hours sleep last night)... I have a 7:07 tee time tomorrow with KF, (play ahead for while we're camping) ladies 9 hole league, camping and all the fun that entails as well as a potential trip to the Bend and the drive in.

What I learned at the elevator convention

- Elevator people drink A LOT

- The guy with the easy laugh and mullet just may be a multimillionaire

- If the hospitality suite is scheduled to be open from 5 pm until 1 am, conventioners will expect it open from 2 pm until 3:30am

- I can make a mean apple martini, dirty martini, dry martini, Cosmo, Caesar, bloody Caesar, and just about every well drink you can think of

- Everyone is nice to the tender of the bar

- Elevators are quite the big deal, and there is serious money to be made in Dubai

- Even the crustiest bastard will come around after 5 days or so

- I learned to carefully read the schedule in case the breakfast will be held in the hospitality suite

- Some mechanics can view the entire convention displays in under 10 minutes

- Everyone remembers the bartender's name

- If you are nice to people, and listen to them, they will talk to you for hours. People like to talk about themselves

- Papa Cheney's has great food, but needs to get their upstairs air conditioning fixed

- The view from the Windsor Hilton may be just about the best thing about Detroit

- Canadians apparently often start reply sentences with the expression 'yeah, no' and are not aware of it, and in fact deny it, until busted

- Balloons are fun at any age

- If your name is Joe Kerr (really) you have to be a nice guy with a good sense of humour

Hair

Reading Maura's blog, I realized that I didn't say anything about my hair... I got it cut before we went to TN, and I love it, although it is a bit odd. I have to keep the colour the same, as I don't really want green hair for the duration of the summer.

Here's the idea for my haircut, if only the stylist could redo my face a bit too... I'll let you figure out who in this picture I am imitating,,,

(Mine's shorter and with awesome roots) Anyways, I'm really happy with it, except for the fact that immediately after I wash my hair it's quite fluffy, (I don't like straightening it every time... not good even with protectove goo) and it looks not so great... but all in all, I'm happy with it. When I have it in a pony for golf, it looks like my four year old niece cut it, haha, perfect!

A word about the week-end

Okay, more than 1 word...

Friday I was pretty tired from driving all day... how that tires one out, I'll never know... anyways... we pretty much lounged about, and that was nice.

Saturday Billy skipped golf and we had a bunch of things to do around the house. He washed and waxed both vehicles, while I vacuumed and cleaned the inside of the car, and did laundry.

We ate dinner, packed up some snacks and drinks and yes, went to the drive in in Grand Bend... of course we tossed the futon mattress in the back of the pick-up!

I know, I know, to drive for 2 hours to see 2 movies at a drive in, but we totally love it! It was packed as the movies were Indiana Jones and Iron Man (both were really good, pleasantly surprised by Iron Man's awesomeness...) We guessed that there were well over 1,000 people there, many left after the first movie...

The first movie didn't even start until after 9:30, and the second was done around 2 am I think. We decided to be complete redneck losers and catch some z's on the side of the road somewhere between Arkona and Watford (aka: nowheresville and Home of the Silver Stick...).

The most ridiculous part of the entire adventure was us waking up and wanting to leave, (have to pee!) and discovering that there was a guy reading a paper in a van about 10 feet from us... Oh well, suck up the fact that we're losers... we crawl out of the back just in time to be completely busted by another guy in another van pulling his golf clubs out of the back. He laughed at us. Figuratively, seriously; I was mortified (but only for like 2 seconds... then it was pretty funny...) I know I would laugh pretty hard if I saw two ratty looking people crawling out of the back of a pick-up at 6:30 on a Sunday morning...haha

When we got home, Billy and I pretty much showered and went and golfed 18 holes (golfed okay... I am now sporting a fantastic farmer's tan...) then went to MomG's for prime rib. Delicious, fun times.

So, how many of my friends would sleep in the back of a pick-up on the side of the road? At age 34 3/4? I don't know if any would, so am I super classless? I don't think I care about that anymore. It was fun and one of the best week-ends ever! I love my life!

Last night

Good God I had fun last night. It worked out that I was able to golf with Kiks and TOK. We played that crazy game again, and again Kiks didn't fare too well, but for some reason the stars were aligned and I golfed fairly well, (could have done much better too, but freakin' TOK shot a 3 above par 39... and this ain't no easy course!) and just had a pile of fun in general...

Very much looking forward to:

- The interactive culinary demonstration, wine pairing and winery tour on Friday night in honour of TOL's b-day.

- Golfing this Thursday and Friday

- Leaving for TN next Friday

- The drive-in hopefully for Indiana Jones... wink wink.

- Eating (I'm hungry whatelseisnew)
