I'm so happy to be done with the 9 hole tournament. Perhaps not working makes me more anxious about these events, but everything went really well. The rain stayed away, the lunch and the awarding of prizes went smoothly and in a timely fashion. Everything was good.

This was the first tournament or golf event that I was completely relaxed. Once we had everyone registered, I knew my job was over, so I was able to let loose and have fun.

It was a freakin' hot day and Kiks and I ended up staying the entire day and played another 18 holes (9 with KF), and we had a great time. I nearly fell off the cart laughing. (Kiks scammed us a free cart)

It's summertime and the livin' is good. And hot.

Today? Taking care of business about the house and a little at my sister's (how exactly do weeds continue to grow despite the lack of rain?) some inputing and email of golf scores, and maybe a little pool action. Tonight? Off to MomG's for dinner with her sisters.

Life, my friends, is good.

Tuesday August 5th

First of all, Happy Birthday KT. I hope you have a good one, you deserve it. I won't be there to share any of it with you (I will call, and I'm sure you have family plans... with motherT if you're lucky...), but we'll do something soon...

Today is our (relatively speaking) big 9 hole invitational tournament, of which we have been planning for months and months.

According to my highschool teacher who popped up from nowhere in a dream last night, much like Lincoln and the Beaver, (uh, I was graduating grade school), everything will be fine. As long as it doesn't rain.

It's raining.

Well, hardly but it is supposed to and it's the only thing that can go wrong. I am so prepared. I have Publisher - ed, Excelled, and Power Pointed like a pro. I have alphabetized, organized, divided, and am ready to go.

Now all I have to do is sell the 50/50 tickets. I hate pimpin'.

Have I mentioned William's impression of Peter Pan on the week-end? Well, his wrist is starting to look less bear paw like and he can now play WOW.

Happy Civic Holiday

Yes, yes, it's that time of year again... Civic Holiday time! This wonderfully timed holiday gives Canadians nationwide (or hey, maybe it's just Ontario....) another day in the summer to recover from a hangover without having to get up and go to work.

It's also an excellent day to:

a) Go golfing (I already did that)

b) Go shopping in the States (a couple of my friends are doing that)

c) Relax with loved ones (I plan on doing that)

So there.

Billy and I are staying in tonight, eating some huge steaks, having some cocktails and watching some DVR'd shows (Big Brother, Highway18, and we still haven't watched the finale of Grey's Anatomy...). It's going to be a great night.

I golfed in the ladies' 18 hole league this morning, and despite some really bad holes, I ended up okay. It seems that every week I play with a woman who is having 'the best game of her life'. Hm. Today I golfed with a woman who scored a 44 on the back and she is 6 strokes higher than my handicap... so that's like me shooting a 40 or 41 on the back. Nope, not gonna happen. The best I've done this year on that side is a 46.

Hm.

This has happened to me at least 5 times this year. I'm either a good luck charm, or playing with people with inaccurate handicaps. Hm.

I hope that my 'best game of my life' comes right around Club Championship time. That would be perfect.

Another week-end wrap up

This past week-end was awesome. I golfed on Friday morning in the 18 hole league, (it was frinkin' hot!) and then Billy and I went back to play alternate shot for the couple's league and stayed for dinner. Most fun indeed. Saturday was Kiks' pool party and golf outing and it was a blast! I laughed so long and hard at something Kiks did... I'll never forget for as long as I live! We sang and danced and drank and ate. Best Party Ever!

People seemed to be on good behavior which made it easier for me to let loose and party... that and not really caring about what they think... there were a couple of things that I let slide, but all in all, they didn't add to my good time, but they certainly did not ruin it. Surprisingly...

So what else... oh, on top of having the house in TN broken into, the guy that's down there now...(not the same guy from last week) called and the AC is broken. Perfect. I think it just needs freon, (which I'm fairly sure is illegal here to refill, however, this is TN...) and hopefully won't cost too much... last time I think it was about $80.

Today we're going to MomG's for my birthday dinner. Yep, 35. I don't feel any different. It's weird to realize that I'm the same age now as when Billy and I first starting dating... funny because he was old... haha. He seemed like he had his life together... and I'm still as scattered as always.

Life's great. I'd have to say the last year was one of the best ones in my life. More to come... just need to slow down a bit...

Hot

Yesterday was hot, and today is supposed to be even warmer. Perfect. I always seem to do an outside project when it's beaming hot.

Thanks to Kiks I have a sweet tamp to use for leveling the patio. That is by far the hardest part. The sweet fun is actually laying the blocks. That's where the reward is... if someone walked in and was like, 'hey, I'll lay the blocks for you...' I would have to decline. That is the my reward for all the hard work.

So anyways, I golfed yesterday with Kiks and another woman, and it was fun, but frickin' hot. Some holes are windless hell like areas of heat... that's my excuse for a poor round... that and my damned golf sandals which I had repaired... the guy left a large chunk of glue under my right toe! I played 2 holes barefoot, then switched to my sweet and spike-less orthopedic sandals

Today? More patio work, vacuum the pool, (I'm looking forward to that), scan some pictures in for Facebook, and keep cool... today's heat index will be about 105*F. Perfect!

Just let your Soul Glo

Feeling oh so silky smooth...

Yes that the song that's been torturing my brain for the last 3 days... ever since I caught a few minutes of the old Eddie Murphy movie, 'Coming to America'. I think I'm going crazy.

Anywho... so what I have been up to the last few days...

- I've torn up my sister's patio, and dug up all the offending weeds and worked the clay over a bit. God I hate clay! Arg! I also chopped out a huge tree, and trimmed a bush a little, it needs more...

- I weeded around my mom's backyard and vacuumed the pool

- I made Billy's favorite dinner

- Finished 'The Dawn Treader' in the Narnia series, as well as 'Sail' by James Patterson

- We took the pooch for a walk

- Laundry, of course

- Basic and general cleaning... the house is getting a little gross, oh well

- I weeded our garden, and cut down some parsley and romaine lettuce

- Watered and wound the Bastard Vine

- Got the recycling all organized... always takes several minutes... William doesn't seem to realize that throwing a large box in the bin doesn't magically compress and flatten itself, hey at least he recycles...

- When to a funeral... one of MomG's friends...

- Inputed (is that a word?) and emailed the results of the Quota Points game from Friday's league

- Booked a hotel in Cleveland.. we have a view of the stadium! Oh yeah!

It seems like I've done so much more. Today same old same old, then Kiks and I are heading out early to golf 18 today instead of 9... apparently her kids are at day camp, so no worries about a sitter...

This week-end is their party, and it's going to be great fun. I hope the weather holds out...

Life is good

Sometimes I seriously wonder if I deserve this life. Sometimes I'm having such a great time that I could figuratively burst out in tears or laughter.

Yesterday was one of those days. It started off with really bad storms, (when you like to golf, such as myself, the weather becomes a huge part of your life), but it cleared up in plenty of time for SC's Couple's Scotch ball tournament. It was great fun, although frustrating as I wasn't playing very well, but even so, we finished 6th overall. The dinner was fantastic, the course was beautiful, and we had fun fun fun. I 'beat the pro' on the par 3 8th hole and also won ladies closet to the pin (which slightly redeemed other losing experiences I've had... nuff said...) and William gave me my birthday present early (so I could use it more), a rescue hybrid, and it works like a charm, although not so much from the fairway...

We also ordered our Cleveland Brown tickets, so that's awesome.

Is a very exciting day!

Why oh why you may ask? Well because today Cleveland Brown tickets go on sale at 10am...

Oh yeah!

We hope to be attending the night game against Pittsburgh in September. It will be awesome!

Also today we are playing in a couples' Scotch ball tournament at Sutton Creek. The format is really fun, and you truly have to work as a team. There is no way in hell we can win... I predict a 4 under par victory... but it will be fun fun fun.

Skully

Also today I'm ordering a new Skully Skully jumped ship on Thursday night during match play (I swear that's why we lost, by one lousy hole...) Hopefully he was found by a loving and caring golfer that will appreciate his abilities as much as I did...

He was a good Skull, and I shall miss him...

Hopefully my golf sandals have been repaired, as the shoe guy wasn't sure if he could fix them... I'm looking forward to getting them back, as my crazy foot tan is starting to fade, and we can't have that happen...

Well I should go, things to do, places to go, tickets to order (at 10am) shoes to pick up, Skullys to buy, courses to golf, things to eat, booze to drink, etc., etc., etc.

I really like my new banner. Except I made it a wee too not wide enough, and when I find the patience I will redo it... probably in ten minutes with a fresh cup of coffee. The picture is looking back on the 12th hole at Sutton Creek but reversed as the trees interfered with my pic and header. Can't have that...

Yesterday was a great day, as I golfed in the morning at a pretty little course with a girlfriend who doesn't golf often... It's strange that I feel so comfortable at any course (well maybe not so much Essex...). It was a little tournament and was most fun.

My afternoon league was a wash out, as there was a huge thunderstorm, but of course it cleared up after. If I had only waited an hour I would have been able to play ( albeit alone...). Rats!

Today? Meeting at the bank (dread), vacuum the pool (after the Splendor guys fix it, hopefully it is not 78*F like last time... little too chilly), maybe some yard work at my sister's, (if it's not too hot) then Billy has his golf league so I'll be (hopefully) finishing The Amber Spyglass, the third book in His Dark Materials (AKA: The Golden Compass, of which I have not seen the movie, so perhaps I shall rent it soon...)
