You deserved it! You are awesome! I knew you could do it! I love you Eli! If it wasn't the Browns, I hoped it was you! Way to go!!!!!!
Next year Browns!
WOOOOO HOOOOOOO
Good for Fins fans too!
Just a few quick notes of interest...
1) My sister-in-law is now recovering from her thyroid surgery. All went well, and she is now without thyroid.
2) I am tagging along with TOL on little trip to San Diego. She is going for work related schooling, I am going for something to do. Should be oodles of fun as long as I can keep my OCD-ed-ness under control. It's fun hanging out with someone with the same name as yourself. Most people can't forget that... Have to email friend in SD for fun advice and etc.
3) Had a great night out in Detroit on Saturday, and we successfully celebrated 2 friends' birthdays. If someone could email me pics, I would post them... (hint)
4) Completed painting the ceiling, sills, doors and trim in both bathrooms. I will do the wall paint on Wednesday if life goes acoording to plan.
5) Long awaited, slightly overdue eye doctor's appointment tomorrow. Have to borrow TOL's expert fashion-ista advice regarding new specs. (How can one be expected to choose new eyewear When One Requires Glasses To See? It's a conundrum... or some literary thing...)
6) Anxiously awaiting SuperBowl (no, I'm not officially licensed to use that word, but I'm sure nobody will notice). We're having a select few over for chow, booze games oh, and to watch football.... and I hope to make it to BMW's... especially since I'm fairly certain that the Mayor of CrazyTown won't be there... one can only hope...
And now for the weather...
Favorite Quarterbacks:
Derek Anderson, (I have to be loyal, even if he does occasionally throw 4 interceptions in a very important game... and has a funny shaped head)
Brett Favre: How can you not like a guy that was in 'Something About Mary?' He's cute, he's been playing for 17 years in the NFL, he is the Packers, a good leader, and looks good in green and yellow.
Payton Manning: Have you ever been here? It's pretty funny. He has a sense of humor about himself. He is a great player, a good civic minded person, he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously
Least Favorite (or most hated) Quarterbacks:
Ben Roethlisburgeroijsadlgjj (I have no idea how to spell his name): Huge ego, not attractive, yells at his teammates, and I think beats kittens and puppies.
Dante Culpepper: Thank God he has seemingly fallen off the planet. My hate for him started when I saw him do this stupid dance and grew exponentially due to continually hearing 'I hate that fucking guy' from Billy whenever his name was mentioned...
Tom Brady: Okay, okay! I know you - probably love him right? Well consider this.... too good looking, too good of a player, always knows exactly what to say. He is too perfect. Does he blink? I think he may be an alien. There, I've said it! The invasion begins in Arizona February 3rd, 2008! Watch out! Please look carefully at a picture I found of him on the internet, and decide for yourself!
Okay, I like the underdogs. I like the 'Cinderella Story' (Caddyshack reference, not the Disney movie...). I like the little guy, you get my point...(and no, that has nothing to do with my husband!)
4 SuperBowl visits in 7 years? Too dominate, too NY Yankees, too 'I'm the winner and you're the loser - always and forever - stamped it, called it black magic!'
So I shall cheer for NYG. Payton's little bro. The guy that never got the attention his older brother does. Pretty cool to barely make the wildcard position and now, centre stage, playing in the biggest sporting event of the year... (I know, I know, Olympic trampolines...)
Reluctantly, more 'yeah underdogs!' and a little anti-Brady: "GO GIANTS!"
The week-end has seemed to have escaped me. Where did it go? Let's review:
Friday: Billy had the boys over and I hung about, not really wanting to sleep at my mom's, (no heat upstairs), so I ended up in our room with the TV on... Billy had fun.
Saturday Billy took his mom out to shop for cars and she ended up ordering a new Ford Edge. Sweet. I'm trying to think of excuses to borrow it. So far I haven't come up with any.
I finished painting the office on Saturday, and it looks nice, it's a little darker than what we have, and *greener*. A little too green I think to do the entire house in... I think it would like nice in the bathrooms, we'll see I guess. I estimate to paint am 11 X 12 room from beginning to the end takes me 14 hours. There are only 2 touch ups, and then a few spots I need to fix with primer when the tape pulled the paint off. Super. So all in all worth it, and I'm planning my next room this week...
Last night our camping friends ventured our way and took us out to dinner in Essex. Who knew that Essex has a nice restaurant? DiVino was awesome and we had great food, conversation, wine and dinner, oh and they treated! How cool is that? They came back to our house after with their daughter and we had a few drinks and laughs. It was a great night.
Did I mention that it's frickin' freezin' outside? According to MSN, right now it is 10*F. That's cold. The wind chill makes it feel like -8*F. Brr. I haven't been outside yet today, (Billy did a coffee run, good man) but I have to go to (crinch) church later for Jake's confirmation, then over to MomG's for dinner.
Right now in Green Bay the actual temperature is -6*F and the wind chill makes it feel like -27*F. That's going to be one damned cold football game today! Brr!
Life is great, really!
I noticed that I haven't posted anything for 3 days. How unlike me! Oh, where to begin...
1) I feel better, thank god
2) I've read 5 books already this year, that's what I might have been doing
3) I had a little visit with a resident of 'Crazy Town' on the week-end
4) The surprise birthday party went really well on Saturday night. It was a good time, and required an hour phone conversation a day later to recap the highlights
5) I can't believe that Indy lost. Poor Payton!
6) Dear Payton Manning,
See what happens when you don't try your hardest in the last week of regular play? I warned you! Maybe if you had a good game (and not looked so happy about the backup quarterback playing instead of you...) against Tennessee two weeks ago, you wouldn't be in that 'losing' frame of mind, and you would have beat San Diego on Sunday! Not to mention if you beat Tennessee, then Cleveland would be in the play-offs.... Are you consoling yourself knowing you won last year? Because your little brother is in the quarter finals? (That's what my husband thought...) I think you'd rather be playing on Sunday... So next year, play your hardest every game!
7) 2 kids slept over on Friday night. Myles and his friend. MacNZ went home at 1am (wasn't feeling well) and Jake ended up staying in Essex at a friend's house. I picked them up at the dance at 10, and although MacNZ warned me that there is a lot of traffic, there was a cop directing traffic! Over 200 kids attend this dance every month! Crazy!
8) I hope to make wonton soup this week
9) It's 9:17am, and I'm hungry
10) That's all folks!
Okay the Titans won and the Cleveland Browns post seasons hopes are dashed. How does a team win 10 games and not make the playoffs? Oh well, I'll get over it.
Tonight is New Years Eve! Another little get together involving food and drink. It should prove to be most fun indeed. Anytime there is a 10 lbs prime rib involved it has to be fun...
Have a great New Year's everyone! I'll think about my resolutions later... maybe less procrastinating as one?
Just nothing much to say, yah right!
I think I'm going to go have a few drinks and watch Indy decimate the Titans, so that the Browns can make the playoffs...
Tell me how Pittsburgh is 10 and 6 and wins the division and Cleveland - in the exact same division - (AFC North) is 10 and 6 and their only playoff hope is if Tennessee loses.
Timing is everything I guess...
I didn't post yesterday because for most of the morning I felt like a bag of shit. A boozy bag of shit. On Sunday Billy and I, (yes, just the two of us) decided to have our own Survivor Finale party which included Smirnoff Ice for me, Crown and Coke for Billy with occassional shots of Fireball, capped off with a cigar in the hot-tub. Good times! Not conducive to Monday morning and feelin' fine. At All.
So I regrouped and went on with my day, I'll hit some (well not really) highlights:
- Picked the the pooch and ate a Whopper to make myself feel human.
- Broke a bar glass, rats!
- Took Halia next door to play with the other dogs. They love romping around in a foot of snow. Halia ran into the cake shop when the door was opened a half a foot and proceeded to eat about a pound of cake, (the left overs that are cut off the top...). Not good for the diet, but good for my sense of humour.
- Ate leftovers and lounged with Billy.
It turned out to be a good day.
Now, what the hell happened on Sunday? It began with a Cinci loss on Saturday night, and the insanity continued throughout gameplay on Sunday....
First of all, Billy called near the end of the Browns game that he was coming home, so I thought I could at least shovel the driveway after he spent all day working. Add snowpants to my bright orange and brown ensemble, and because of the earlier kitty litter incident, I had to wear Billy's Miami DoIphin gloves...I then learned that the best time to shovel our driveway is when the guy across the road is almost finished snowblowing his. He came over and offered to shave a lane for us, ugh Yes! Thanks! He saved me an hour of heavy breathing and a day of backpain. Thanks old guy!
So I decided to shovel (again) the decks and around the hot tub, and being a little superstitious, (I really, really try not to be, but I can't help it) I was seriously concerned that the Browns would lose because I was wearing the Dolphin mitts. Billy came home just as I finished and at the end of the Browns game and (whew!) they won a very important game. AND, because of the Miami gloves, the Dolphins won their first game this year! Lucky for them my other gloves were covered in kitty litter! You Are Welcome! Billy then joked that the Dolphins are ready to take on the Patriots next week... (funny if you follow football, as the Pats are so far undefeated this year, and the Dolphins are the only team every to do so in a season and win the Superbowl...llong story) anyway... I thought it was funny.
So teams that should have won didn't and teams that I hoped would win, (like Kanas City) didn't. Not good, but nail biting indeed!
In attempt not to sound, (or read) like an obsessed fan, (I know one and it's not cool) I will try to repress my desires to discuss football at length. I'll keep it short and sweet from now on, I promise...
Life's good, especially when not hungover...
It's a blizzard in Cleveland! Crazy! Damned Frank, Terry and Howie picked Buffalo to upset Cleveland! I may change my pregame loyalties to CBS!
Go Browns!
Oh, and I hope, hope, that Tennessee loses!
Okay, I've got a lot to cover, so let's get started...
Last night's party was really good. Many of us met at a friends' house beforehand, and they put out a really nice spread of drinks and apps for us. Although I've occasionally mixed lime Perrier with vodka, I never thought of doing so with Orange vodka, and little slice of lime. It was a very mellow and delicious Cosmo type drink.
We were going to cab it to the club, but decided not to, as the cab company couldn't tell us when they could send a car, and it was getting pretty late. So Billy drove us downtown.
I was fairly mortified that Billy's boss put it on me to chose the wine for the evening. I really don't know wine at all, but everyone seemed pretty happy with what I chose. Thank God. Although the boss may not be that happy when the bill comes as the red was pretty expensive...
The Windsor Club has a great view of the Detroit skyline and Belle Ilse. The weather was coming in pretty good and the party broke up fairly early, but it was a really nice time.
I only had a glass and a half of wine so I drove the 5 of us back to J&S, and Billy had another drink and we decided to attempt to drive home as opposed to staying the night. This proved to be an excellent decision, as although it was freezing rain, this morning it was worse... Billy did have to drive into the city this morning, but he is assuredly less of a nervous navigator than I am... He is working now which Really Sucks.
For once, the Detroit media has seemingly not over exaggerated the storm we are having. It is really coming down and blowing. We've had about 6-7 inches so far, and more expected. Some counties getting the Lake Effect are even under blizzard warnings... yikes!
I will not discuss how I spent an hour this morning getting my mom's van unstuck, stuck then unstuck again in multiple snowdrifts. Suffice to say I was in a pretty pissy mood, AND my mom has come to the conclusion that attending church is not as important as her youngest (and most favorite) child's sanity... 'Nuff said, I'm over it, and now, with the exception of feeling bad that my husband is at work, I'm in an excellent mood.
Now for point form...
- I find the NLF pre-game coverage on FOX far superior to the coverage on CBS, and even ESPN. I prefer to watch the actual game on CBS, but lose my mind at the half or anytime that I have to hear Shannon Sharpe speak. That guy sends me around the bend!
- Why are they declaring this week's "game of the week" to be Jets at Patriots? The spread is like 26 points and it will not be very interesting. There are games that matter more than home field advantage, such as Buffalo at Cleveland, Jacksonville at Pittsburgh and Tennessee at Kansas City... anyways...
- It would be totally crazy to be at the Cleveland game today. They have almost 2 feet of snow by the end of today and wind gusts up to 50 mph. Insane! That will be a great game.
- All my cosy joggies today where still in the washing machine, leaving only my capri Eeyore joggies my only option save the Vols pajama bottoms which are in the trunk of the car and a little too cold to put on. My shins are chilly.
- I wish Billy has home. If he was here we could watch the game together, eat grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, have a nap, shovel the drive together, and end the night with left over Chinese and the Survivor finale.
- Halia is pouting over at MomG's, and apparently blaming her for the snow, and refusing to go outside. When pushed out the front door, (too much wind in the back) she stepped into a snow drift up to her belly and was not impressed. It was all too much for her, so she is now napping off her anger.
Well all in all, life is very good.
