I have been procrastinating about making picks for week 9. Why you may ask? Well, I'm just feeling like the suckiest suck who ever sucked suck when it comes to my picks of late. I'm so terrible it's just depressing! I have no football pick confidence! I lost my mojo!
One good thing about this week is that Cleveland will most assuredly NOT lose. Ahh... That feels almost as good as a win! Is that an old joke when it comes to the bye-week? Because I totally just made that up completely independent of any outside source. Yeah, that's me.
Oh Yeah - 2 weeks until I see that BROWNS at Detroit, and 4 weeks until we venture to Cleveland to see SD at Cleveland! Yeah!
WAS @ ATL - I'll take ATL - I hope this game is not televised.
ARI @ CHI - I don't like this pick. Inconsistent versus Unpredictable. Hm. No confidence in this pick... ARI.
BAL @ CIN - Mr. Picklez says: This was hard to pick. I hate both teams equally. Ouchostinko can suck it. I couldn't agree more! Can both teams lose? I'll take Baltimore.
HOU @ IND - I'll take Indy.
MIA @ NE - My heart wants the Fins to win, but my head is telling me to of course take NE. Head wins. (No comment from William!)
GB @ TB - GB
JAC @ KC - JAC CAR @ NO - NO
DET @ SEA - Lions, you suck even more than you think you do. You just don't see it. But you do. You suck. SEA.
SD @ NYG - NYG. WTF.
TEN @ SF - Okay, okay... here's my reasoning. TEN was humiliated and spanked by the Pats. Then they had a bye week, and maybe some pep talks and massage or something and actually beat Jacksonville - which is no huge feat I realize, HOWEVER - they had a fairly tough schedule... @ PITS - loss by 3. VS. HOU @ home lost by 3. @ Jets. lost by 7.. then their confidence drops like a rock... only to get spanked by the Jags, INDY and NE... (two of 3 are good teams...) then the bye week. So, is this the new and improved Titans? Probably not, but what the hell... I'll take TN.
DAL @ PHI - I hate both teams, PHI more than Dallas. I think PHI will win this one at home - please don't be televised.
DEN @ PIT - Wow, I realize that I have a lot of hate in my heart... Cinci, Balt, Dallas, PHI, DEN and Pits... I have issues. I'll take Pits, but it pains the BROWNS fan in me, but what doesn't?
I have no ambition to really get into defending my picks... here they are...
HOU @ BUF - Screwston, and they better not stick it to me again.
CLE @ CHI - Oh the pain! The agony! I'm taking CHI but of course cheering for the BROWNS. That team is such a hot mess right now! They are playing DET in week 11 (I'm going to the game) and the sports radio guys seem to think that that game won't be blacked out... A sell out against Cleveland? Well, there are a lot of Cleveland die hards (me included) who will trek the 3 hours for the away game plus - it's a game Lion fans are convinced is already won... Ugh.
SEA @ DAL - I don't trust Dallas. This is my upset pick as long as Hasselcrack can move the ball. I'll take the Seattle.
STL @ DET - Mr. Picklez says: Another game honoring Stirquilius, Roman god of Feces. Oh Mr. Picklez how you make me laugh! The fact of the matter is STL (Such Total Losers) can't manage to score. Wow, even their NFL website sucks. They have only scored 51 points this year! I don't think I've taken DET since week one last year against ATL... Well, it'll make sports radio buzz this week if they do win, so I'll take the Lions.
SF @ IND - Picklez... you took SF... I think you meant IND. I'm taking IND. Hope you didn't screw yourself on Yahoo.
MIA @ NYJ - Jets. Although I hope MIA wins, I don't see it happening in NY.
NYG @ PHI - Tough pick. NYG.
DEN @ BAL - I hate both these teams equally. I'll take BAL...
JAC @ TEN - I'm taking TEN. They need a win bad and are home against inconsistant Jags.
OAK @ SD - SD.
MIN @ GB - This should be a decent game. I think MIN will win on the road.
CAR @ ARI - ARI. Delhomme can't stop throwing interceptions.
ATL @ NO - Woo wee! I'll take NO at home. Could be an upset, but I think NO will squeak a win.
Couch here I come!
The NFL is in week six already... I wouldn't have thought that the Browns would have a better standing than the Titans.... I never considered that Cincinasty would be leading the AFC North, Brett Favre would be positive addition anywhere, and TB would suck beyond all expectations of sucking.
Surprise, surprise, surprise... perhaps that is my excuse of my poor pick performance... too unpredictable!
Thanks to Mr. Picklez for the format now and forever, 'cause I'm a lazy LG.
Quite a few tricky picks... which I will call 'DD' - dilemma dilemma
HOU @ CIN - (DD) Screwston versus Those Who Bother LG To No End... I think Houston has what it takes to beat them... I actually think most teams do - but the Bengals are at home... This one hurts... CIN.
DET @ GB - In GB? Detroit? I'll take the Packers.
BAL @ MIN - Min? At home? Baltimore angry after a loss to Cinci? (DD) - I'll take MIN.
NYG @ NO - (DD) This will be a good game... Geez! I'm leaning towards NYG, but NO is at home... NYG has played WASH, DAL, TB, KC - possibly the easiest schedule... NO has beat DET, PHI, BUF and NYJ... a little more challenging... I'll take NO.
CLE @ PIT - Ugh, this one hurts. Oh the pain. Oh the agony! Did anybody see/hear how bad Anderson sucked last week? He brought sucking to an entire new level of suck. His passer rating was 15. That isn't too good. William thinks that that is possibly the worst passer rating a team has ever had and still won. Wow - not something to be proud of... Despite highly contagious but non life threatening sticky STD's I've willed to the entire Steeler's team (with some good results btw), I still think they are going to beat my BROWNS. I still shall don my BROWNS gear (possibly my Santa hat - I will be golfing, and it's a balmy 35*F right now...) and cheer loud and proud for the BROWNS!
CAR @ TB - I'll go with Carolina, but if TB is going to win one in the first half it'll have to be this game - they have a tough schedule and I don't see them beating NE (for instance) any time soon...
KC @ WAS - Mr. Picklez says: It's the battle of the racist mascots! I'll change their names temporarily to the WAS Rednecks and the KC - Land Grabbers. Both teams are sort of sucky, but only one team is Kansas Shitty. Picklez Pick: WAS - I agree.
STL @ JAC - Jacksonville is super inconsistent, but STL sucks, so I'll take JAC.
PHI @ OAK - PHI.
ARI @ SEA - (DD) - This one is TOUGH! ARG! I JUST DON'T KNOW! HELP! I'll come back to this one... I'm back and still stuck! Seattle is so all over the place, and didn't ARI play in the SB last year? I'll take SEA only because they are at home.
TEN @ NE - Hm.. last year this would have been a good game. This year this is just a game. I hope it's not televised. I'll take NE.
BUF @ NYJ - I'll take the Jets. Never bet against the Jets... unless they're playing Miami on the road...
CHI @ ATL - (DD) I'm going with the home team... I really thought CHI was going to be great this year... shows how much I know!
DEN @ SD - Oh, I just don't know! (DD) I have Denver issues I hope that they lose. SD is a really nice city and I like their zoo. ARG! Based only on wishful thinking, hoping, wishing... I'll take SD.
TOUGH week - could be ugly... maybe I should change my banner and pics as I did last week... I think it helped the BROWNS win...
Mellow - that was our week-end in a word.
We finally watched all the Heroes episodes we had on the DVR, a movie and some other shows. We lounged about and watched football, went to MomG's for Thanksgiving dinner (it was awesome), I read a book, started another and took the pooch for a nice walk at the 'secret park' in Cottam (about 2 minutes away from our house).
I have been to the 'secret park' (aka: Cottam Rotary Tot Park) a couple dozen times, and I've only seen other people there 4 times. It's such a gem, although the best part (aside from the lack of people) is not the park itself, it's the attached field and woods nearby - especially in the fall... it's quite pretty.
Here's the park...
So if you go there, don't get mad if you see my dog off leash...
Now football: We went to MomG's early as Billy noted that Global (Canadian channel, which we don't get with our US satellite) tends to show all Buffalo games... and oh yes! The BROWNS were on! Cleveland won. Wow - I'm so happy about that. Whew! I would hate to see them winless playing the Lions at Ford Field. Their schedule is pretty tough (save Lion's - we'll see in week 11) for the rest of the season...
There were a couple of victories that I did not see coming: The Benglas beating Baltimore - huh? I don't like Baltimore, but I really don't like Cincinasty, so that one hurt. The Suckhawks decimated Jacksonville and Denver beat the Patriots. 'Oh, Denver is so awesome, Denver is the best' WHATEVER! I don't see it! They beat Cinci (who I thought sucked btw), Oakland (who does suck), Cleveland (no comment), Dallas (apparently suck despite Romo and fancy stadium), and Arizona (that was the first week, and hardly counts), and on Sunday they beat the Pats (now I understand the 'Boston' thing), in overtime I should mention - hardly a blowout. Anyways - the point is, I don't like them, and they bother me.
I saw the first half of the Jets - Fins game, and I'm so happy that Miami won. Gruden was creepy (as per usual), and they couldn't get enough of talking about Braylon Edwards. UGH! Well good for you Braylon, you actually caught a ball... maybe if you did that in Cleveland you wouldn't have felt 'on the outs'. Remember 2007? When you were able to catch a ball? and the fine fans of the Browns loved you? Well, good luck in NYJ... if you drop for them, there will be no forgiveness, and you will be run out of the city and the sport, so put that under your pillow.
Wow, it's early for LG to get so riled...
Anyways, this week should be, well, mellow. Not too much going on - life is good.
Wow, week 5 - hard to believe. I'm not doing so well in the pick department so far this year, maybe this week will be the week!
CLE @ BUF - It's true - if the BROWNS are going to win a game it will be this one (or v. Detroit). Braylon Edwards is gone, which didn't upset the fans or team. They came close last week to a win (okay, only because the massive Shaun Rodgers blocked an extra point - wow)... DA played well (but not so much in overtime)... There is controversy regarding Cinci's winning kick in overtime - did you know that? I was 'watching' the game online at NFL.com (okay - I'm too cheap to pay for it - I was watching the 'game center'... one minute the Bengals were up by 3, then the points were taken away, the the game was declared a tie (as in FINAL!), then oh, hey, Cincinasty wins... oh the pain!
Even the fans in the background weren't cheering - because it wasn't good! AAaaRrrRRGGggGGG! The video is only 5 seconds long btw...
What do you think? I would have prefered a tie over a loss anyday! So, with all that's brewing in the minds of the BROWNS - I'll take em to beat Buffalo! Let's go BROWNIES, LET'S GO! I think I shall even change my banner...
PIT @ DET - At this very moment, the FOX channel in Detroit is talking about the possibility that the Lions can beat Pits... yeah, not really, predicted score is 30 - 16. I'll take Pits, and I'll even say they beat the spread, 'cause I'm crazy like that...
DAL @ KC - Dallas, although they a) bother me b) screw me over on a regular basis c) I don't think Romo is all that great or good looking.
MIN @ STL - Vikes.
OAK @ NYG - NYG - hey this picking thing is easy!
TB @ PHI - Hm! I hate to take PHI, because I hate them hate them hate them, but TB is stinking up the league this year and Jon Gruden is laughing all the way to Monday Night Football... Oh, I'll take Seagles
WAS @ CAR - Dilemma dilemma... I'm going with the home team - CAR.
CIN @ BAL - This game boils the blood of BROWNS fans... Because I probably hate Cincinasty a wee bit more than Baltimore, and I can't believe that they actually beat the BROWNS and may have a decent team... I'll take Baltimore and they better win!
ATL @ SF - I'll take SF at home. This one could be an upset if ATL gets their smit together...
NE @ DEN - I just don't know. It's a coin toss really... NE isn't as great as they have been in years past, and Denver is doing surprisingly well despite possibly the worst trade in history. I hope that NE wins because I have some anti- Denver issues... Denver's NFL website says they are playing Boston this week... okay, and Indy is playing Nashville.... dumbasses... Just for that I'm taking NE. I realize that DEN is undefeated, but they've played CINCI, OAK, DET, and DAL... not the toughest schedule in the league...
HOU @ ARI - Another tough pick... I'm not a big fan of Scr-ouston... I'll take ARI at home.
JAC @ SEA - Jacksonville.
IND @ TEN - TEN was such a force last year, now they are embarrassing... They are getting great airtime, but are only showing off their suck. I'll take Indy. Poor TN.
NYJ @ MIA - Okay, this might be the last time I take the Fins (at least until they play Tampa...). Yes, I'm going with Miami, and I really hope they win.
Noodle scratcher... that what comes to mind when I glance at the games this week. Yikes. This could be very scary
DET @ CHI - Although I do think Detroit is better now than last year (and not just because of the W last week), I don't think they have what it takes to beat even a scattered Bears team. I'll take the Bears - I think this might be the week they get their smit together.
CIN @ CLE - I have no idea why Cinci is doing well this year. On paper, they look unsogood, but seemed to have eeked out couple of serious victories. Poor Cleveland! Poor Cleveland fans such as myself. Oh, the pain. Maybe Cleveland is having such a bad start to the year because we're not able to watch the games via Country Cable, and the converter can't reach the Cleveland signal... Maybe it's my fault? I shall soon take a shower and don all the Cleveland gear I have (except the Santa hat). Besides willing Swine flu to the Bengals, there is nothing else I can do. Oh, William mentioned that Man-gina might be soon fired and replaced with Gruden. I just hope that Jon knows that it is over between us. I can totally see him taking over as head coach for the BROWNS and trying to win back my affections by turning the team around... we'll see I guess. This might be dumb dumb dumb, but I'm taking the BROWNS!
SEA @ IND - I'll take Indy.
NYG @ KC - I'll take NYG.
BAL @ NE - Tough pick #1... I'm going to go with Baltimore... this also could be big mistake #1
TB @ WAS - I'll take Washington.
TEN @ JAC - Tough pick #2... Ten is 0/3, and Jacksonville is brilliantly inconsistent... If Ten loses this one, the fans will riot, as they can't improve from last season's record (although it was really good...) Oh, what to do, what to do! I'll take Jacksonville - they are at home, and this would be a huge win for them.
OAK @ HOU - Oakland has actually won, but it was against KC. HOU beat TN. TN (although winless) trumps the crappiness which is KC, but it was a close game.... oh, and HOU is out to screw Mr. Picklez, which I don't like, because Mr. Picklez tickles my chuckle bone... Hmmm... I'll take HOU.
BUF @ MIA - Tough pick #3... I think Buf is could be good, but can't get it together. The fins are at home, and I swear this may be the last time I take them... Go FINS.
NYJ @ NO - Oh, hey, tough pick #4... My theory to never bet against the Jets is put to the test... If I take them they lose, if I don't they invariably win... I'm going with the Saints at home.
DAL @ DEN - Yuck... I'll take The C-boys, but I don't like it.
STL @ SF - Blah... I'll take SanFran.
SD @ PIT - Have I mentioned that I hate Pittsburgh? Did you know that Polamalu is not really out with a knee injury but with a non-life threatening high contagious, sticky sexually transmitted disease that I actually willed Big Ben and Ward, but bounced off them and onto Polamalu? Yes, it's true. My hate has that kind of power. No, I don't take requests... I'll take Pits, only because they are at home.
GB @ MIN - Tough pick... I lost count. This is going to be a great game! Oh, I can see the ratings! It would be even better if it was in GB... I'll take MIN...
Notes:
I still intensely dislike (nearly dispise) Shannon Sharpe.
CBS, and NFL Redzone coverate SUCKS! It takes 10 minutes to cycle through the scores, as they start showing the stats 5 minutes into the first quarter. ANNOYING!
Go BROWNS!
In week 3 I did not post my picks and predictions, as I wasn't feeling too hot. I barely got all my pools in on time, so that kind of bums me out... I have to be more responsible! Anyways...
First: The poor BROWNS... the poor BROWNS fans... So the Browns got a whoopin from Baltimore - no surprise there really. What really really sucks is that Cincinasty beat the Steelers. Huh? Wha happen? I saw the last few minutes of the game, and the Bengals wanted that win like a fat kid wants a Smartie - and they got it. Unbelievable! William said he picked that correct... let me check... holy smit he did! Apparently he is wiser than 88% of Yahoo users who picked the Steelers... hm... maybe I should chat with William more before making my picks.
Anyways, what sucks so supremely much is that the Browns play the Bengals this week-end, and although the rivalry is not quite as intense as say BROWNS vs. the Steelers, it's still fairly passionate between the two Ohio teams. This means the Bengals are coming into this game on a high from beating the Super Bowl champs. Decidedly not good.
Second: The Lions won. Wow - I didn't see that one coming. Last week Washington squeaked by Suck Louis and that should have sent a warning signal into my little brain, but it didn't. Of course talk radio was all a buzz with 'I told you sos', and 'I knew starting Stafford was the right move', and 'The Schwartz is the best coach ever', and my favorite, 'there is no reason why the Lion's can't be Super Bowl contenders this year...' oh for God's sake. Such is roller coaster ride of a football fan...
I'm actually EXTREMELY relieved that the Lions won. With their upcoming schedule (Chi, Pitts, Min, GB, STL,), I think the only genuine chance for a win will be against Suck Louis... then in week 11 they play the BROWNS at home... you know what I'm getting at Sports Fans... I really didn't want Detroit's first win in 25 odd games to be against my BROWNS. So, whew!
The BROWNS schedule is something like - Cinci, BUF, CHI, Pitts, BAL... that's fairly tough... we'll see...
Lastly: The good news is that for Vegas Insider after 2 weeks (they haven't calculated the third yet) I'm sitting pretty at 90% correct, tied for 4th OVERALL, and there are thousands of people in that pool... the bad news is that that is my 'opposite' team... I choose my real picks under one name, and the reverse picks under another name... wow, that's pretty lame and sad.
Well, I really stunk up the place last week. I didn't see much of any game, as I was out of town last Sunday. I don't know how much I'm going to see today, as there is a chili cook-off and wine tasting a mere 2 kms away... how can I resist? We'll see.
I'm not surprised that CLEVELAND lost to the Vikes. Bummed, but not shocked. AP is a total force, and Favre managed not to retire or get injured before and during the game. The talk radio guys in Detroit are convinced the only team in the league worse than Detroit is Cleveland. I told William I don't care if Cleveland sucks, I still love them. It's also nice following a non-local team, as you don't have to listen to all the crap the fans and experts spew. I hear enough negatives about the Lions...
Anyways... I KNEW! not to bet against the Jets. Jeez! I'm surprised Arizona lost (it looked close) as well as Green Bay winning. I LOL'd when I read Mr. Picklez's friend Chicago QB theory... Apparently, once a QB puts on the CHI helmet, he becomes a tard. I call it "Punky QB Syndrome". Haha!
So this week, who knows. I'm feeling quite inept after going 10/16 (not 9/16, but yes, dead last)...
CAR @ ATL- It seems like Carolina is all over the place the last few years with surprising wins, followed by bad losses... I'll take ATL.
MIN @ DET - Sorry Lion fans, I think this is going to be a spanking. AP is so exceptional, and Favre is (ugh) whatever. Detroit is an anxious hot mess. I also heard their first 'for sure' win this year will be against the BROWNS. Ugh...
CIN @ GB - I think this will be a bit ugly too, and not just the the Cinci uniforms. I heard some guy on ESPN say that Rodgers will be a top 5 QB by the end of this season. Hm... don't know about that, but I think they will have an easy win.
HOU @ TEN - TN, ugly - skip this game.
OAK @ KC - Another game to not watch. I'll take KC.
NE @ NYJ - I'm taking the Jets. They are feeling fine with Sanchez, at home, and coming off a good win.
NO @ PHI - Mr. Picklez says: 'McNabb broke his McRib and from what I understand, the Dog Murderer can't play until next week's game. NO had a solid performance against the Suckiest Sucks Who Ever Sucked, but who's to say how they fare against a quality team on a road game. I'm hoping for an upset here and just because I hate PHI. Picklez Pick: NO That's funny! I concur.
STL @ WAS - I hope this one isn't on today, unless I need a nap. I'll take Washington.
ARI @ JAC - After last week, I think that the Cards will play super hard. Jacksonville is as inconsistent as my picks, but ah well... I'll take ARI.
TB @ BUF - Is this week suposed to be crappy? Another game to avoid. I'll take the Bills, although the standing buffalo bothers me, and I hope they keep it out of rotation, it makes me thing that the players should be grazing.
SEA @ SF - This might be a decent game, I'll take Seattle, although I don't know why, and I really don't care.
CHI @ PIT - Have I ever mentioned how much I hate Pittsburgh? No? Well I really do. I'll take the evil ones, although I won't be shocked at an upset - it would be great to see CHI get their shit together.
CLE @ DEN - I think choosing the BROWNS is a long shot, but I'm going for it. I didn't see much of the game last week, but my girly instincts tell me they have something to prove. Cribby is awesome btw, and I shall adorn myself in BROWNS gear today to support the boys.
BAL @ SD - I'll take the Ravens, although that team bothers me. I heard Merriman is out for a while, and that might bother SD a bit. San Diego is a great city though and I would love to see a game there one day.
NYG @ DAL - I'm going with NYG. I think Dallas will be distracted with their new home, trying too hard, and they'll fall apart - plus I don't think Romo is all that special.
IND @ MIA - I heard that the Fins were all over the place last game, trying crazy plays and that they actually forgot to play football. I'm going out on a limb and taking MIA at home. I hope they remember to play football.
Ugh, silly week - we'll see. I'm not running out to make a pro-line pick that's for sure. Let's go BROWNIES, let's go!
Well, I haven't really had the motivation to investigate, dwell, or consider this year's NFL teams... I'm pretty darned excited to have the season upon us, and super stoked to see the BROWNS play twice - once against the Lions at Ford Field in November, then against San Diego in CLEVELAND. Oh yeah!
Anyways, here I go! (again thanks to Picklez, as I copied his format)
TEN @ PIT- Although it pains me deeply, I have to take the Steelers. Oh, it hurts to do it. I think TN will have a good year, but sadly so will Pittsburgh, unless my hexes and jinxes come to fruition and Roethlisbusighubngh and Ward come down with rare, untreatable and contagious (but not life threatening) diseases of the male sexual reproductive organs.
MIA @ ATL - Because I'm a girl, and I can't help but make my picks with feelings, flowers and hearts, I have to take the Fins. I think they still have something to prove from last year. Ryan did great last year, but he was also coming into a team with a scandalous background.
DEN @ CIN - Yuck. I think Denver received my award for the worst trade ever. Cinci sucks, but at home (and all the odd growling that I understand takes place from the cat fans) I think they will win. I think it will be a sloppy, ugly game, but I think the Bengals will scrape by.
MIN @ CLE - Gotta take my BROWN boys. I think the Vikings are all caught up and pinning their hopes on Favre (although I do like Peterson) - too much hype. Cleveland will put their heads down and focus at home. This will be a good win for them and hopefully shut down the Favre chatter. I can't see Brett lasting the whole season. I predict an early season injury (I'm not willing it though - just predicting...) Quinn and Anderson both looked solid in the pre season and Cribbs just rocks. Their defense looks better than ever, and their running game is impressive with Davis (I think that's his name), So Let's Go Brownies - Let's GO!
JAC @ IND - I think Payton has had his day in the sun (how many cliches can I use in one post?), but Jac in the past has been all over the place. Indy usually plays good at home so I'll take Indy.
DET @ NO - I'll take the Saints. Sorry Jude, I just don't see a win against the tough defense of NO. Too much hype and pressure on Stafford and I think Culpepper is past his prime.
TB @ DAL - For the record, I'm quite relieved that Gruden is gone from TB... it was just getting creepy between us, and I rather agree with Mr. Picklez that.... "all that's left of TB are flavorless strips of mediocrity and rancid chunks of failure." I think they are a hot mess of pirate paraphenalia and I don't predict a good year. I think DAL will be grooving with a happy new home kinda feeling - plus they have a lot to prove - although I think Romo is a little over rated... I'll take the C-boys.
PHI @ CAR - Good God I hate Philly. I'll take Carolina.
KC @ BAL - Baltimore bothers me, but I think they will have an easy victory against Kansas. Has Kansas ever been a good team? I don't remember ever picking them...
NYJ @ HOU - LG doesn't like betting against the Jets. They screwed me over so many times like 5 years ago I always cringe when I take the other team... I have no idea what HOU is going to bring this year, but I'll take them at home against NY - although I do like Sanchez... why did I put Pennington at first... jeez LG, what year is it??
WAS @ NYG - I don't think NYG will be anything spectacular this year, and I think that WASH will be some what a contender, but in the opener at home I'll take the Giants.
SF @ ARI - Odd opener... I'll take Arizona. I hope that Warner makes it through the season.
STL @ SEA - Have I ever picked St. Louis? Maybe against KC or Oakland, but I don't recall... Seattle was really good years ago, then really poopy. Who knows what this year will bring? I'll take the Seahawks.
CHI @ GB - I hope and think the Bears will win this one. Cutler is bringing excitement to the team, and I think he's a great QB. Denver fans will be groaning this year as I think the Bears will have a great season. This is a big rivalry, and should be a good game.
BUF @ NE - I'm with Mr. Picklez that NE won't have a stellar season this year. Buffalo has been all over the place in the recent past, but for the home opener, I'll take the Pats. I don't like Brady though.
SD @ OAK - This will be rather ugly, and I'll take SD. Has Oakland been good in the last 5 years? I don't think so. I don't really care either - their fans are ugly and scare me.
WRAP UP and PREDICTIONS:
Cleveland will make the playoffs and I will win $100 from White Bob at Sutton Creek.
Big Ben will trade his infectious (although non-life threatening) STD with Ward and will not play the entire season.
Brady won't be as good as he has in the past.
The Manning brothers will fade into the background.
Gruden will continue to send secret coded love messages to me now via Monday Night Football. He's still having a hard time dealing with our breakup last year.
I will boycott any and all Philly games.
I think Pitts (oh, the pain!), CHI, the Redskins, and the BROWNS will be good this year.
I love football - I'm already feelin kinda Sunday.
To some, probably many - This is a Very Important Week-end at Sutton Creek and many area private courses. It's club champion time!
It's a two day event which determines the best male, female and senior golfers at the club.
Here's the situation...
My handicap is currently 7 lower than this time last year. Last year I was at the high end of the B flight. More ladies played last year and they had more divisions. This year I'm at the high end of the A flight. The woman who has won for the last few years handicap is 13 less than mine, and there is about 6 women in between her and me. I had some good rounds this year which dropped my handicap, but now I'm right back shooting crazy high again... generally the lower the handicap the more consistent the golfer...
Essentially I don't have a cold chance in hell of winning this thing. I'm not just saying that so you comment, 'you can do it LG!' - not necessary, it's simply not going to happen - and I'm more than okay with that.
Why am I okay with that? Because, it'll be great fun, a good experience, lots of good people about, a beautiful day and a perfect week-end for celebrating golf! Oh, and the Browns play on the NFL network at 4... I hope I can bribe the keeper of the remote...
