Welp, Billy is leaving for the great state of TN in about 4 hours... lucky man. The weather is supposed to be fantastic Tuesday and Wednesday and they already have tee times booked...

I really hope that everything is okay with the house. The last guy that was there (the bartender from Sutton Creek) had a crazy episode whilst barbecuing in the garage and... well, let's just say that there was a mullet, an offer of a burger, boxer shorts, a wife beater, and an axe involved. It's a good story, you can fill in the blanks... suffice to say the Sheriff was called. Awesome.

He's venturing down with 3 of his friends and they are taking MomG's new Edge, which is great. The other 2 guys only have 1 family vehicle each and well, the other guy's car probably wouldn't make it through Michigan... Billy's truck is fine, but the back seat is narrow for 2 guys to ride 10 hours in... so that means MomG gets our Fusion... so that means that I get to drive Billy's work truck. Super cool!

While he's away I'm having a couple of girls over on Wednesday night (I think, I still have to confirm) and a few other girls over on Thursday night. On Tuesday I have golf, then a pool party at Kik's which should be a riotous event for sure. It should be a good week for me too. I seriously hope to get rid of my farmer's tan!

It's all good. Of course I'll miss him, but he really needs this time away to be with friends, golf, drink, play poker and eat steaks. He deserves it!

We're back.. a day early. There was entirely too much rain... we did get really lucky though. It was beautiful when we walked in the Maitland, and the next day on the walking path, at the drive-in and during meal times. Whew! But seriously when it's thunder and lightening and HAILING it gets a little old. The poor pooch was not happy. She was either wet, in the trailer or having a marvelous time.

It's good to be back....

- because I like having dry and clean feet

- I'm not a big fan of campground showers or toilets

- I like my bedding to be soggy free

- as I enjoy cold beverages without worrying about the ice situation

A word about the week-end

Okay, more than 1 word...

Friday I was pretty tired from driving all day... how that tires one out, I'll never know... anyways... we pretty much lounged about, and that was nice.

Saturday Billy skipped golf and we had a bunch of things to do around the house. He washed and waxed both vehicles, while I vacuumed and cleaned the inside of the car, and did laundry.

We ate dinner, packed up some snacks and drinks and yes, went to the drive in in Grand Bend... of course we tossed the futon mattress in the back of the pick-up!

I know, I know, to drive for 2 hours to see 2 movies at a drive in, but we totally love it! It was packed as the movies were Indiana Jones and Iron Man (both were really good, pleasantly surprised by Iron Man's awesomeness...) We guessed that there were well over 1,000 people there, many left after the first movie...

The first movie didn't even start until after 9:30, and the second was done around 2 am I think. We decided to be complete redneck losers and catch some z's on the side of the road somewhere between Arkona and Watford (aka: nowheresville and Home of the Silver Stick...).

The most ridiculous part of the entire adventure was us waking up and wanting to leave, (have to pee!) and discovering that there was a guy reading a paper in a van about 10 feet from us... Oh well, suck up the fact that we're losers... we crawl out of the back just in time to be completely busted by another guy in another van pulling his golf clubs out of the back. He laughed at us. Figuratively, seriously; I was mortified (but only for like 2 seconds... then it was pretty funny...) I know I would laugh pretty hard if I saw two ratty looking people crawling out of the back of a pick-up at 6:30 on a Sunday morning...haha

When we got home, Billy and I pretty much showered and went and golfed 18 holes (golfed okay... I am now sporting a fantastic farmer's tan...) then went to MomG's for prime rib. Delicious, fun times.

So, how many of my friends would sleep in the back of a pick-up on the side of the road? At age 34 3/4? I don't know if any would, so am I super classless? I don't think I care about that anymore. It was fun and one of the best week-ends ever! I love my life!

Billy's birthday and week-end events

It was a great week-end!

On Friday, we were at MomG's for Billy's birthday dinner. Halia helped Billy open gifts... she is so good for that...

We then ventured to the Lion's Head, as it was also one of Billy's friends' birthday's. We were only planning on staying for about an hour, but it ended up being pretty fun, so we were there for about 3 hours. Because it was Billy's birthday too, he was bought about a *dozen* shots. People like to buy him shots just to see the look on his face. It's impossible for him to control his facial expressions. Here's the show:

That's pretty typical.

It was a good time, and although part of me was dreading going, everyone was behaving well.... so....

On Saturday we lounged then went to the new Golf Town to look at clubs for Billy. He had hoarded and saved almost $1000 worth of gift certificates and after playing in the simulator for a while, he decided that the Calloway clubs were the best fit for him. He also added 2 wedges to the set. Awesome. Sweet.

We then went to On The Green, the indoor golf place, where we met a couple of friends, and played 9 holes. It was great. If you can't be outside and golf, then this is the next best thing! Billy and I played pretty well, so of course that makes me even more excited about the upcoming golf season.

We went to the Keg and had a fantastic dinner, and a ton of laughs. What a perfect day!

Sunday I scabbed out on helping at SuperT's house *guilt* and was splayed on the couch until it was time for dinner at MomG's.

All in all, it was a fantastic week-end. This coming Easter week-end should be good as well! Life's good!

Today is Billy's birthday, so happy birthday husband! It should be fun...

Last night there was a pile of us girls at TOL's house. She has a new puppy named Schmeichel, and he's pretty damned cute. I actually wanted to steal him, but I didn't think that would be nice, and I'm all about the nice. So anyway, it was nice to see everyone, the apps and wine was great too. Very good.

Last week-end at the golf show, (I haven't really talked about it, due to my overwhelming guilt...) I bought myself a new golf bag. It is by far the sweetest bag I've ever seen... and the price was great at $80. It's black with some silver on it, has separate 'helix' designed club and iron compartments, (which I haven't really liked in the past... but it's great...) wheels, (although the short wheel base means that the ground has to be completely level to work well...) tons of storage including a waterproof pocket, and best of all: a built in cooler! It even has little drainage holes. Man oh man, I'm lovin it!

I cleaned my clubs and organized the bag, (so much fun...) added my new Tattoo Golf gear, (putter cover and towel... to match 'Skully') and am now just waiting for the snow to melt and the club to open... Meanwhile, the bag is too good for the garage and is resting nicely in the front bedroom.

Oh, I also should mention that although I was not looking for a bag, Kiki was for herself as well as her husband... so... we hauled 3 identical bags across the border! Aren't we going to look cute at couple's league. Billy will be the odd one out with his (although super sweet...) Nike bag. ... but his is yellow and black...

So anyway...

Life's good.

Since my last post... who knew? Time flies when you're... hm, I don't really have an answer to that.

Tomorrow is Billy's 42nd birthday, so happy birthday William, it should be a good week-end. His 3 day celebration starts tonight - he's going to the indoor golf place with some friends...

Last night

Last night a couple three girls came over to eat at Grady's Steakhouse and Wine Bar.

Here was the menu in case you care...

Homemade Focaccia Bread

Roasted Seasoned vegetables

Peppery Mushrooms

New York Strip Steaks with three topping options: Warm, creamy blue cheese, black olive vinaigrette, and chimichurri sauce.

Homemade Cleveland Creme Pie for dessert

Wine was Riesling from Sprucewood (for the Nachos) and Pinor Noir with the steak.... yummmm

I think the dinner turned out pretty well, and it was fairly simple to make... the conversation was great, and it's always nice to be with friends.

Entertainment was me bustin a move to Dance Dance Revolution, and yes, me dancing is quite entertaining...

Tonight? Pizza and maybe a few cocktails with the husband. He's had a hella week at work, (including today) and could use a nice mellow night...

It's a dog's life...

Today started much as any day would... coffee with my mom, a little cleaning, some time on the computer... then, I heard the date... February 13th.

Of course, it's the day before Valentine's day... yes, yes, I'm pretty sure to be dining tonight with a couple of girlfriends in Essex... hmm, what else?

Oh yeah! It's Halia's 3rd birthday!

I called Billy to let him know, and he didn't feel too guilty about it, "she doesn't really understand you know, Liz." he said, "you did just give her a prime rib bone, so that's a pretty good gift."

We decided that Billy should call his mom and lay on the guilt. Well, she was practically crying! Seriously! That pooch is like her grandchild!

A couple of hours later, there's a very small senior in our front yard struggling to bring in the recycle boxes... MomG had stopped by to give Halia a gift. A wrapped gift... Doggie style beef jerky.

So happy birthday Halia, as Roger Caras said, "Dog's aren't our whole life, but they make our lives whole."

Flashback

Occasionally, I like to look back in my blog to see what I was doing a year ago... I remember a year ago very well, lots of action around SuperBowl...

Here's my post from January 30th, 2007 for your reading pleasure...

Hot Tub Action Figure

Last night Billy and I decided to brave the hot tub. It was a great night for it - it was snowing big, fat flakes, not too windy and cold! Very nice experience, here's pretty much our hot tub conversation, (excuse me if it is not exact):

Me: It's nice out here.
Billy: Yeah.
Me: The tub could be warmer...
Billy: It's 101*
Me: Hmm... We could pretend we're in Whistler or somewhere like that...
Billy: Yeah.
Me: Why don't you go roll in the snow, then jump back in the hot tub?
Billy: Why don't you?
Me: It was my idea, so you have to.
Billy: I don't think so...
Me: What you should do is get out, take 3 big steps, throw your arms out in front of you like a super hero and slide headfirst down the hill.
Billy: I don't think so.
Me: C'mon!
Billy: Why don't you?
Me: It was my idea, so you have to.
Billy: Umm, no.
Me: You'd do it for your friends.
Billy: With a couple of cocktails, I probably would.
Me: I'm not as good as your friends?
Billy: Yes you are.
Me: Then you obviously don't love me then, or else you would slide headfirst, naked in the snow down that hill.
Billy: I would do it if I had shorts on.
Me: What difference does that make?
Billy: I don't want to get 'it' caught on anything.
Me: Like a rogue stick?
Billy: Yes
Me: Or poo?
Billy: I'm not doing it if there is poo out there.
Me: There's no poo there, she poops further out, she's smart like that.
Billy: I'm not doing it.
Me: Just cup yourself with one hand and shoot your other hand out and slide down the hill.

This is when Billy looked at me briefly, jumped out of the tub, cupped himself, put his arm forward and did a downward dive in the snow down the hill. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen, and I'm sure every neighbor could hear me laughing. Needless to say he hot-footed it back in the tub.

Billy: Are you happy now?
Me: Yep!
Billy: I have rugburn on my shoulder and hip.
Me: From the snow?
Billy: No from the ground.
Me: Next time you should be more careful!
Billy: Hmm!
Me: Well it was worth it!

We pretty much then just relaxed, then got out. What a great night. I wish I had it on video! That memory will last forever! I just wish I could show it to other people. Maybe he'll do a repeat performance on Superbowl - with shorts. Hahahaha!

So funny! I will never forget it!

And now for the news

Just a few quick notes of interest...

1) My sister-in-law is now recovering from her thyroid surgery. All went well, and she is now without thyroid.

2) I am tagging along with TOL on little trip to San Diego. She is going for work related schooling, I am going for something to do. Should be oodles of fun as long as I can keep my OCD-ed-ness under control. It's fun hanging out with someone with the same name as yourself. Most people can't forget that... Have to email friend in SD for fun advice and etc.

3) Had a great night out in Detroit on Saturday, and we successfully celebrated 2 friends' birthdays. If someone could email me pics, I would post them... (hint)

4) Completed painting the ceiling, sills, doors and trim in both bathrooms. I will do the wall paint on Wednesday if life goes acoording to plan.

5) Long awaited, slightly overdue eye doctor's appointment tomorrow. Have to borrow TOL's expert fashion-ista advice regarding new specs. (How can one be expected to choose new eyewear When One Requires Glasses To See? It's a conundrum... or some literary thing...)

6) Anxiously awaiting SuperBowl (no, I'm not officially licensed to use that word, but I'm sure nobody will notice). We're having a select few over for chow, booze games oh, and to watch football.... and I hope to make it to BMW's... especially since I'm fairly certain that the Mayor of CrazyTown won't be there... one can only hope...
